A. 100% of the profits from this project will be donated to a non-profit organization that is currently aiding in the relief efforts in China. We are currently seeking a charity to partner with. If you are part of such an organization, or know someone who is, please let us know. If no official partnership has been formed at the time we're ready to make our donation, all money will be sent to the Red Cross, and designated for China Earthquake relief.
A. We will be donating 100% of the profits from the shirts to the relief effort in China. We wish we could donate every penny, but, obviously, there are costs involved. Some of those costs include the price of the shirts, printing, shipping and handling, payment processing fees, supplies, and more. We've been working hard to seek out donations of supplies, as well as financial donations to help offset some of the costs. The million dollar goal is based off being able to donate $20/shirt. Our hope is that we surpass that number, and are able to donate above and beyond $1,000,000!
A. There are a lot of needs in the world today. I chose China because, simply, China chose me. On the morning of Monday, May 19th, I saw how one guy was making a difference with his talents, and thought that I too, could do something important. My hope is that when this project is complete, we can find another way to make a difference.
A. The project first started one week after the earthquake. At that time, reports were estimating that 50,000 lives we going to be lost in the tragedy. At that time, I set a goal of selling 50,000 shirts and raising $1,000,000. As of May 25th, the death toll has surpassed 62,000 and estimates place the final number around 80,000.
A. Yes.
A. You can donate directly to the Red Cross' International Response Fund by going here.
A. This project is an opportunity for people to feel involved in something bigger than what we could each do individually. The shirts and the wall are simply a tangible reminder of the impact that 50,000 people can make.
A. No. In order to help keep our costs down (which helps keep the amount we can donate up), each shirt will be printed in order, and each number will be assigned automatically.
A. World Vision had given a verbal commitment on Day 2 of our project to partner with us as our "charitable sponsor." Unfortunately, because of reasons beyond our control, they needed to back out of that relationship. While our donations will no longer be going through World Vision, our commitment to helping the rebuilding process in China remains the same.
